How to Make a Message Shorter
Short is not rude. Unclear is rude. Keep the ask, drop the wind-up.
Delete these first
- The sentence that repeats their message back to them.
- “Just,” “quick,” “kind of,” “I think maybe.”
- The second question you don’t need answered today.
Keep one concrete noun
If you cut until nothing is left, you cut the point. “Deck, 4pm, PDF” is short and usable. “Let me know your thoughts when you get a chance” is short and empty.
If you want a rewrite pass
Put the long draft in Super talk and pick a direct tone (Cold is a real product tone; workplace styles can also tighten). Then cut again. Don’t expect the model to know which fact is load-bearing unless you left it in the draft.
